Reflective Narrative
In this course, we prepared for our study abroad experience by submitting our applications, learning about our destination, and practicing the projects we will be completing while abroad. For the application process, we had to make a personal statement for both the CSUMB study abroad application and the specific university we will apply to attend. This course also helped us keep on schedule for the various aspects of the application, such as getting a passport and medical checks.
In addition, we practiced for the two study abroad projects: LESCANT photos (See "Course Work") and study abroad journals. This was very helpful because I think it would have been more difficult to suddenly start these projects on our own in Japan rather than in the classroom at CSUMB. It also helped seeing other students' ideas on what qualified for the different LESCANT categories; everyone's perspective is different. I'm looking forward to taking photos in Japan and using the journal topics we brainstormed in class for my own journal entries. |
